OUR STORY
Blink Impact was founded by filmmaker Mike Trower, whose passion for helping others has been woven through every stage of his life.
In his early 20s, Mike completed a triathlon for SCOPE, discovering the thrill of supporting others, even indirectly. This led him to volunteer with St John Ambulance, first as a medic assisting people at racing circuits, football matches and school fetes, and later as a youth leader, teaching and guiding cadets and badgers in first aid and youth club-style activities.
Life brought challenges of its own. During a difficult period, Mike found himself homeless with his children who at the time were a toddler and a baby. A handful of organisations offered crucial support, but he later realised there were many more local services he never knew existed. That experience highlighted how life-changing community projects can be, and how devastating it is when people don’t know they’re there.

From that hardship came creativity. What began as a light-hearted cooking session with his toddler, Cody, evolved into Cooking with Cody, a community cooking project that grew into a national story, featured by the BBC, Sky, national newspapers and Russell Howard’s Good Deeds.
The project highlighted how food, community and visibility could make a tangible difference. Teaming up with a local charity, The Thrive Project, Mike, Cody and baby Lara began cooking donated food that could be shared with homeless people through The Thrive Project, turning inaccessible food parcels into nourishing meals.
Blink Impact is Mike’s latest project, a not-for-profit platform dedicated to showcasing grassroots charities, CICs and community organisations through powerful short documentaries, photography and social media. Each film shines a spotlight on unsung heroes, showing the people who build these organisations from the ground up, the communities they serve, and the lives they change.
Through Blink Impact, Mike combines his lived experience with his filmmaking expertise to ensure that no vital organisation remains unseen, and that more people can find the support they need, when they need it.
